The National Immigration Service of Panama offers a series of immigration categories to which foreigners interested in settling in Panama can apply, whether for work, family reunification, investment or relocation.
The National Immigration Service of Panama divides immigration permits into three main
categories:
1. Non-Resident Immigration Permits.
2. Immigration Permits for Permanent Residents
3. Temporary Resident Immigration Permits.
Each of these divisions of Immigration Permits in Panama is further subdivided into different types
of immigration permits with different requirements and expenses.
– How to apply for an immigration permit in Panama?
In order to obtain an immigration status in Panama, the applicant's nationality must be taken into
account and also, the applicant's immigration needs and obligations must be considered. As we
saw before, Panama and the National Immigration Service offer a series of immigration permits
which we can mention below.

Currently Panama has approved new categories of work permits through Executive Decree No. 4
of March 2, 2023 establishes new categories of work permits in Panama for the different
classifications of immigration permits.
