LABOR LAW

Navigating the challenges of employment law

Labor relations between employee and employer are regulated by the Panamanian Labor Code. The labor process has its own characteristics and autonomy that differentiate it from the ordinary
civil procedure in Panama.

The labor process in Panama can be carried out in the labor jurisdiction, the conciliation and decision boards of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development, which are independent labor tribunals made up of representatives of the workers, representatives of the employers and one from the public sector.

On the other hand, we can mention that there is a conciliation mechanism between the affected parties in the conciliation boards, prior to filing a labor lawsuit as such, which many times allows reaching a fair agreement for both parties.
